When it comes to patriotism, Canadians aren't always very showy, especially compared to our American neighbours. While they shout it from the rooftops, we mention it politely to passersby. That said, this year has been a bit different as our home and native land (well, mine anyway) is celebrating 150 years of existence. The Canada 150 celebrations have brought out a whole other side of true patriot love with just about everyone and everything getting into the spirit. Even the candy...

"In this limited edition pack you will find strong bold flavour and a collection of some of Canada's most iconic symbols. From the beaver, a treasured Canadian emblem older than the maple leaf itself, to the much-loved Canadian Loonie (or "huard", French for loon.) There is a shape for every Canadian to celebrate and cherish our rich and diverse history"

Waterbridge is in on the maple leaf love-fest with the release of their Waterbridge Special Edition Canada 150 Wine Gums. They didn't just stick your average wine gums in a Canada themed packaging, that would be cheating. They made the chewy little guys in a selection of Canadian shapes- beavers, canoes, ice skates, loonies, maple leaves. Cute, right?

The Waterbridge Special Edition Canada 150 Wine Gums are exclusive to Walmart Canada and are a fun little way to show (and eat) your Canadian pride. I'm not even much of a wine gum fan, but these are quite tasty as they lack that strong and often times artificial flavour. Unlike most gummies, these are gelatine free making them suitable for vegetarians. They do contain beeswax, so no luck for vegans. Are you feeling the Canada 150 love? Will you be doing anything special to celebrate this year?
