No matter how big or small your acne battles are, having the right products around make a world of difference. The hard part? Finding products that actually on your skin and acne type. It usually takes a bit of trial and error, but one magical ingredient often helps on everyone.... tea tree. Its pungent scent definitely takes some getting used to but its antiseptic properties are perfect for banishing blemishes.

If all over acne is a your battle, a tea tree infused skincare system is a great pick to keep skin both balanced (aka not drier than the Sahara) and cleansed with the antiseptic properties of tea tree to prevent a suitable habitat for acne causing bacteria.  For that, Thursday Plantation has a three simple three step routine that cleanses, tones, moisturizes, and protects skin. The major upside to the range is that all products are free from your typical acne fighters (think benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alcohol... etc.)

Step one comes in the form of the Tea Tree Face Wash Foam. The liquid cleanser dispenses as a cloudy foam that works to gently cleanse skin while removing sebum, excess oils, dirt and makeup. Tea tree works its antiseptic duties targeting bacteria while camomile helps soothe and reduce redness.

Step two is the often overlooked Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner. Don't skip you toner, people! It's a valid skincare component anytime, but especially if you're dealing with acne. This formulation works with tea tree as antibacterial with the added benefit of witch hazel (a natural alcohol-free astringent) to purify skin and tighten pores without being drying. If that isn't enough to convince you, it also features aloe vera and lavender to calm irritated skin.

Once cleansed and toned, it only makes sense to moisturize. Moisturization is a step often skipped by oilier or acne prone skin, as its thought you can avoid breakouts by keeping the skin dry. NO. Dry skin isn't the answer. Step three, the Tea Tree Face Cream is though. The lightweight formula features tea tree (obviously) with a natural blend of macadamia oil, rosehip, vitamin e, and shea butter that restores skin's moisture barrier after cleansing and toning.

If your acne is more sporadic (or hormonal) a full tea tee routine might not be necessary. That said, having treatment options for the odd spot that wreaks havoc on your complexion is always a good idea.

100% Pure Tea Tree Oil is perfect for dabbing on blemishes of all stages as the antiseptic properties can lessen the size and ferocity of them by killing up to 99.9% of germs. Plus, a bottle of tea tree oil is a great item to have around the house for dealing with minor cuts, burns, scrapes, bug bites.... you name it as it effectively cleans wounds.

While the pure oil is great, I do find the liquid format can get everywhere when applying it on acne. A Qtip helps, but the Tea Tree Medicated Gel for Acne is also helpful. The gel is an invisible treatment that penetrates blemishes to lessen and shrink pimples. I was majorly impressed my fist use, as I could feel something a brewing on my chin. I applied this before bed, expecting to need another round in the morning, but when I woke up the hard, red, pimple-to-be was gone.

Overall, you really can't go wrong with tea tree, and Thursday Plantation offers great formulations that are effective while also being kind to skin. In Canada, you can find Thursday Plantation products as Walmart, Loblaws, Superstore, Rexall, and natural food stores as well as online from Well.ca (a personal favourite, who do ship most item to the US.)
