Peony Power | L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime Skincare

I'm breaking my self-imposed rules and starting the blog week off with skincare. I tend to like to start with something a bit more colourful, but in the case of the L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime range, you're still getting a dose of pretty hues thanks to all the pink. If you hadn't noticed, everything in this range comes clad in shades of pink. As you've likely also deduced, everything features peony with the promise of "perfection upon first contact." Sounds promising, right?

loccitane pivoine sublime skincare (1)L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime Petal Cleansing Oil (with real peony petals inside!)

We're starting the peony party with the Pivoine Sublime Petal Cleaning Oil which brings an extra pretty element to your skincare routine as the bottle features real peony petals from Provence: "Selected from only the finest blooms of the season, the petals are hand-picked at the height of their beauty, when the peony yields its largest and most velvety flowers. They are then dried and placed into each bottle by hand which ensures that the flowers retain their exquisite natural qualities." Aka fancy-pants cleansing oil.

As for the actual cleansing oil, this is a very nice formula. It's applied as per usual- on dry skin, massage, add a bit of water to emulsify, then rinse- and does leave skin feeling very nicely hydrated. I found it breaks up makeup very easily (including long-wearing formulas) and rinses cleanly so you don't need a second cleanse (unless that's what you're into.)

Toner gets a pretty pink look with the Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Toner. The alcohol-free formula features an enriched blend of skin-perfecting peony extract that works to soften, smooth, and tone skin post-cleanse.

As much as I love a prolonged mask session, sometimes you just don't have the time for all that. L'Occitane has three mask options that are perfect for fast me-time. The pod masks (you know, the little guys that offer 1-3 uses in those cute little... pods?) come in three formulas and can be purchased individually, or in value-sets of six. Your options include:
  • Peony Overnight Perfecting Mask: a gel-mask that works overnight while you sleep to reduce the appearance of fatigue (think dullness and dryness) so you wake to happier, luminous skin.
  • Peony Flash Moisture Mask: a creamy, rich mask that instantly hydrates thirsty skin. It moisturizes and plumps leaving skin supple and radiant. It only needs five minutes on skin, with a no-rinse formula.
  • Peony Purifying Minute Mask: a melt-in mask that works to absorb excess sebum and impurities in three minutes. This mask leaves skin feeling deeply cleansed and smoother, with a more refined look and feel without being drying.

Last up, a definite favourite. I'm always a fan of a little facial mist, but the Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Mist is just that little bit extra that makes it something special. The ultra-fine mist works as an any-time refresher that hydrates or a makeup setter with a soft peony scent. I'm not always a fan of scented facial products, but this is a gorgeous mist. The smaller can also makes it a nice on-the-go option as it can be stashed in most bags/purses.

Overall, I am very much a fan of this range. It's pretty, but everything is effective and perfect for most every skin type- although, most everything is hydrating, making it extra nice for anyone prone to dryness. What do you think? Tried any of these product or want to?
