Lunar New year (aka Chinese New Year) doesn't officially roll around until February, but Givenchy is treating us to their Lunar New Year Collection bright and early (aka now.) The limited edition goodies bring a dose of added luxe to already some otherwise... okay, they were already pretty luxe, but the special edition packaging is gorgeous.

The Givenchy Prisme Libre in Moisseline Pastel may be a brand staple, but it gets a red and silvery-gold makeover for the Lunar New Year. The lid features a faux-leather topper with a fine floral and branch design in classic Lunar New Year shades (red and gold.) The floral design even appears as an added touch on the powder puff, proving no detail is too small for Givenchy.

The loose powder works to colour correct with four complimentary, translucent shades that create a naturally enhanced finish on skin. The overall finish is natural-matte, but the four shades add a brightened, radiant look to skin while keeping shine at bay. The texture is gorgeous and leaves skin feeling silky with no powdery cast.

When I think Givenchy beauty, lipstick is the first product that comes to mind. Their Le Rouge range, dressed in leather is always fun to look at, but the Lunar New Year Edition Le Rouge in Rouge Egerie takes it up a notch. With the same floral-branch pattern (in silver this time) on red, this is one stunning tube of lipstick. The weight of the tube and super smooth twist when applying all add to the luxury factor. Lipstick lovers know what I mean.

Rouge Egerie is a bold, coral-red cream with a semi-mate finish. There is a hint of shine when applied, but I do find it wears away, leaving a more true semi-matte look. The creamy formula glides on with a super smooth feel, and incredibly pigmented formula. That said, this shade stains (a lot) which I love for the added pop of colour as the shade wears away.

Overall, this is a gorgeous duo and a luxe way to ring in the new year. What do you think? Could your makeup collection use wither of these limited edition beauties?
