Every Canadian beauty fan is a card carrying Optimum club member (okay, I know they've recently changed the whole system, but you get the gist.) Shoppers Drug Mart is the first place we honed our cosmetic purchasing skills and thanks to the fact that they can be found in even the smallest of towns, a place most of us still visit on the regular. And with good reason, since they carry everything form the big brands to your average drugstore fare, including a few in house options (that can be surprisingly great.) I just happen to have a haul-full of new bits, so read on for the 411.

cake do gooder dry shampoo

We've got a little bit of everything represented, so maybe we'll start at the top? Meaning hair. Sound okay? I'm just going to have to assume all heads are nodding in agreement. My beloved Cake is finally available at SDM (so convenient!) including their new range of hair products. I'm already a fan of the Cake The 'Do Gooder Volumizing Dry Shampoo (featured here) as it's revives not-so-fresh hair, adds great volume, is invisible on even the darkest of hair hues, and features the brand's sweet cream scent.

I am a bobby pin user, so I am well versed in the world of loss. They come in 50 packs, yet they're gone in a snap... Elastics can go Houndini on you too, and a classic black elastic is always useful. The Stylize Elastics not only come twelve in a bunch, but feature a few solid black, metal-free elastics, but also feature a few decorative ones clad in gold and faux gems.

soap & glory pillow plump gloss quo lip and cheek colour

No drugstore trip is complete without a little colour, for which there is always something new. The Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Lip Gloss in Nude in Town offers a semi-sheer wash of nude colour (and a faint hint of shimmer) with a plumping effect. No, it isn't a crazy painful plump, but there is a little bit of a tingle. I really like this gloss, as it's not sticky and wears really well with a lip liner for a bit of added colour.

Speaking of added colour, the Quo Lip & Cheek Tint in Bloom is an easy way to think spring with its pop of petal pink. The cream isn't as bold as it reads in the pan, but offers a nice wash of colour on cheeks or lips with a lightweight, hydrating formula.

joe fresh hydra lash mascara
Joe Fresh Hydra Lash Nourishing Mascara 12 g $12 CAD

Drugstore mascara is my go-to, since you can find some really great formulas without spending a ton. The Joe Fresh Hydra Lash Nourishing Mascara in one of those. The mascara features argan oil to condition and hydrate lashes and provide a clump-free effect. I was very impressed with how nicely this formula both volumizes and lengthens lashes and that the silicone brush is the perfect size for easily coating every lash.

yes to tomatoes detoxifying charcoal facial wipes

When it comes to removing the day, a facial wipe can be super handy for swiping away makeup prior to cleansing. The Yes to Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Facial Wipes are infused with charcoal to provide a deeper clean. I've been a little bit bummed by these, as the 95% natural formulation is promising, but they're just a bit too dry to really be great.

life brand micellar water
Life Brand Micellar Water 400 ml $9.99 CAD

I've learned not to judge a micellar by the brand- there are quite a few drugstore brands killing it- so I was really interested to see if the Life Brand Micellar Water could compare to that other one (you know the one.) The verdict? It can! I have been really impressed with this micellar. I tend to judge based on how well it can remove a mascara and this formula breaks it down with ease and requires no rubbing or tugging. Go, Life Brand!

masque bar brightening sheet mask

Lastly, a bit mask action. I'm always a fan of a brightening sheet mask, so the Masque Bar by Look Beauty Brightening Sheet Mask is an easy way to boost skin. It is said to help minimize the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation irregularities and give complexion a more even tone. Bold claims for a one time use mask, truth be told but I did feel like this gave my skin an immediate radiance, if only temporary.

Overall, some excellent beauty finds! What do you think, tired any of these products? have you found any new gems at the drugstore lately?
