Aside from the peppermint oil I use on my trash to keep raccoons at bay (which does work wonders), I haven't really dabbled in essential oils. I've wanted to, but I don't know, just never took the time to get overly acquainted with all of the options and learning what is most beneficial for various concerns and aliments. If you're in the same boat as me, you're likely going to be into the new addition to Avon's essential oil family.

Avon already has a range of pure and blended oils for use in diffusers and the like, but as such, you can't just go slapping pure oils on your skin willy-nilly. Now you don't have to fuss with blending your own concoctions as the Avon Pure Roll-On Essential Oils are blended essential oils and carrier oils (sweet almond, to be specific) in a convenient roll-on. You simply roll the oil on the affected area, neck, pulse points, temples, hair-line... you get the idea and allow the aromatherapy effects do their thing.

The roll-on range is home to five blends for most of your day-to-day complaints (headache, stress, aches and pains, you get the idea.) While each blend features differing oils, they all feature 'expertly crafted, highly concentrated, pure plant derived oils' that are are also vegan, paraben / gluten / phthalate / sulfate-free. They're made in Canada too!

Of the bunch, I've been testing my way through:
  • De-Stress: a blend of lavender, sweet fennel, peppermint, Roman chamomile, and rosemary which act to take the edge off of daily stress with a calming effect. Lavender is the most predominant scent, but the sweet fennel comes through and really does make me feel a little more mellow (for a least a few moments.)
  • Detox: features juniper berry, lemon, peppermint, sweet fennel, rosemary, and sandalwood to 'awaken senses' with results akin to 'hitting reset'. This seems quite similar to de-stress to me, maybe there are specific situations where you just know you need to detox... Regardless, this blend elicits an inner calmness.
  • Energize: takes a fruitier approach with a blend of  lemon, grapefruit, sweet orange, and rosemary that work to give you a little more pep to get you through that afternoon slump. Hailed as sunshine in a bottle, this truly does leave you feeling brighter in mood and a little more motivated to get through that to-do list.

Overall, I have to say, I kind of like these. I tend to be a skeptic until proven otherwise, so I'm not sure I can speak to their true efficacy, but I'd like to think there is some benefit. I'm quite intrigued by the Head-Aid oil blend, which is said to help reduce headache pain. Is it better than popping a Tylenol? Who knows, but I'm down to try it out. What do you think? Do you reach for essential oils to ease common ailments?
