I'm not quite sure how I feel about crackles... they are everywhere (you've seen them) and it's not like they look bad, I just can't decide which side of the fence I fall on.
In my last order of polishes ( I am hooked on getting them from Amazon now, even thought I only know of one seller who ships to Canada) I picked up China Glaze Crackle Glaze in Cracked Concrete. I love gray, so I thought that if I was going to like any of them it would be the gray.
I first tried it over OPI "What's With the Cat-itude?" a light blue shade. I didn't mind it, but I also didn't love it. What do you think? I will say I grew on it a bit more as I wore it, and it lasted a very long time, four days before any wear. That is incredible for me, as I seem to be pretty hard on my nails. Four days was plenty long enough though, as I wanted to see what the crackle would look like on a metallic base.
I used Revlon Speed Dry in Metallic a super shimmery silver polish, for the base the second time around and have to say I liked it. I don't like the way the Metallic wears on it's own, but I do like it with the gray shatter.
The shatter is super easy to use, you just apply it over dry polish and it starts to crack really quickly. I was surprised at how fast it started to do it's thing, so I would advise you apply it quickly. It dries pretty fast, but the tag on the bottle suggests letting it dry at least 10 minutes before applying top coat.
Overall, I don't mind the shatter, but I can't say I'm a full on lover of the trend just quite yet. Have you tried crackle polishes? What do you think of them/ which colour do you like?
So China Glaze came out with cracked polish too? Woaw. I thought it was an OPI exclusive type of thing, I've only seen the OPI brand of cracked everywhere in store the past two months.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the grey personally. But that's just me. I would try out the black or pink, or even purple before anyting else. I've been wanting to get the black cracked for my toes, but they are all some 15.00$+ out here, it's kind of ridiculous for a polish...
Your seller on Amazon, do they have good prices? (I'm in Canada also!)
I'm on the fence with crackle too, it's okay, but I think I prefer normal nail polish. :)
ReplyDeleteI think this trend is cute but not for me.;D

ReplyDeleteOPI was the first, but a bunch of brands have come out with sahhter/crackles/effect polish now.
The seller I use is NailsEtc and they have great prices ($4-5 a bottle for OPI and China Glaze) and shipping is really reasonable as well. I usually order 4 or 5 bottles at a time and pay $5-6 shipping and never had customs issues either.
@Vintage
I think I agree! I'll use this one from time to time, but I can't see me getting anymore.
@Marie
I agree!
