October Faves 2011

I skipped faves last month, I thought my go-to's of the month were pretty much the same as the month previous, and nobody really wants to see that. Anyhow, I do have some fresh faves this month, as I forced myself to change up my routine. My house is still a bit of a jumble, but it is so close to being back to normal. I've moved back to my bedroom which is pretty amazing. My carpet was installed today (yay!) and the wallpaper and trim goes up later this week *does happy dance*

Yves Rocher Micellar Cleansing Water
I've actually been meaning to include this in a post for over a month now. I'd wanted to try a micellar water for a while too, so when I got the chance to get this at half off (Yves Rocher has great deals) I took the opportunity. Even at full price, this one is much less expensive than others I've seen on the market. I really like this cleanser, even though it is not a complete cleanser. If I'm having a lazy night I use a facial wipe then this, as it isn't quite enough to get every last bit of makeup off, but for the most part I use this in my morning routine to cleanse, since I Clarisonic at night, and don't need a deep clean most mornings.

Pantene Triple Action Mousse for Fine Hair
I don't exaclty have fine hair... my overall hair type is med-thick, but the individual hair is a fine texture. To keep my hair looking thick and oh-la-la I have to either brush it through out the day or use product. I usually opt to just brush it as I am super au-natural when it comes to my hair, but I saw this mousse and thought I'd give it a go, since it does not require blow drying. That is the main reason I don't use products, they all seem to require blow drying. Luckily, this mousse works amazingly well sans a blow dry. It gives a great boost of volume (even on the second day) and it helps bring out my natural curl beautifully. I'll stick with this one.

Givenchy Ange ou Demon Le Secret
I'm terrible at describing scents, but to me this is a fresh floral with a hint of fruit and a slightly deeper dry down. I think most people class this as more of a summer scent, but I find that the depth of the dry down makes is nice for when ever.

Dr. Jules Nabet Zen Attitude Anti-Aging Cream
I reviewed this here, so I can't say much else, but I do like it.

Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Java
I needed another brown liner like I needed a hole in the head, but this is one I'm glad that I hoarded bought. It has a sharper built into the lid, which is super handy, and it's a deep rich brown that glides on easily smudges when you want it to but doesn't budge once set. It's amazingly waterproof. 'Nuff said.

Boots Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks in Peach Melba
This blush is a matte, neutral peach toned nude that is pretty much perfect for my skin tone. It gives just enough colour. It is super smooth and well pigmented. I like to use this blush with simple brown smoked eyes and a berry lip.

Bath & Body Works PocketBac in Fruit Punch
Not really a normal item in my monthly faves, but I really do love this stuff! Not only because it keeps grimy germs at bay, but because it smells just like a fresh glass of fruit punch. So good.

Julep Essential Cuticle Oil
I didn't expect to like this as much as I do ( I am a long time fan of Burt's Bees cuticle butter) but I love how convenient this is to roll on after a manicure.

Sleek 'Oh So Special' Mineral Based Eyeshadow Palette
I ordered a few things from Sleek (their international shipping is really affordable) and really love their eyeshadows. Out of the two palettes I got, the Oh So Special has been my go to. I use it with a little Painterly or Nubile Paint Pot and I'm all set. The shadows have great pigmentation (eve the mattes) and apply beautifully.

Joe Fresh Blush in Plum
This is my fall/winter go to. It is the perfect plummy shade, that isn't too red or too blue. It has a light sheen and applies easily. It isn't so pigmented that it's hard to apply, nor too sheer. Best of all it was only $6.

Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain in Berry Smooch
I am not usually one to go very bold when it comes to lip colours, so this medium toned berry is definitely a stretch. That said I really like it. Once I got used to colour I realized it looks pretty great on me. I like that it lasts for hours (not as long if to top it with clear gloss though). I like to buff my lips with Lush's Sweet Lips lip scrub first, and then apply it.

Bonus Fave:

These are totally new to my as I type this, but OMG, they are really good and I'm sure I'll end up eating my fair share of them this month. They're new holiday Oreos in mint. Dark chocolate, thin cookie and mint? So good. Must be eaten right out of the freezer for best effects.

What where your faves last month?

  1. I will definitely be trying some of these! Sadly last month was sooo busy I dont think I got any new products :(

  2. I really like the look of the peach melba blush. And I had no idea those Oreos existed.. excuse me while I find some!

  3. Sleek palettes are good! I only have sunset, but the quality is great!

I love your comments! Be sure to check back for a reply from me :D
