Avon Nailwear Pro+ Petal Impressions Collection

I love Spring polish collections! The allure of soft, pastels and plenty of pinks and lavenders is almost irrepressible. Almost. After a while, it seems like every shade seems to have already been done, does it not?

While Avon's Petal Impressions collection is without a doubt, very Spring, it is just that little bit different from the standard pastels with the addition of a pearlized, shimmering finish. I love that the shades have names corresponding to impressionist art- most notably Van Gogh and Monet. Read on to take a closer look!

'Introducing 6 new shades that capture the essence of impressionist art
  • Subtle sparkle-pearl finish resists dings, bangs, and nicks for 12 days of lasting color.
  • Custom precision flat brush allows a smooth, professional application.

When I first saw the promo images of this collection, these polishes didn't look that appealing; the shimmer looked quite frosty, and I imagined a lot of streaking. I'm not afraid to admit this: I was totally wrong! The 'sparkle-pearl' finish that these polishes have is stunning and gives each shade a glowy, lit from within look, and the formula, which did differ a bit from shade to shade, applied evenly and without fuss. No streaks! I do happen to love the brush Avon polishes have. It's a flattened brush, but it's not as wide as other brands, and it really does make application easier.

Most of these only required two coats, but some did have a thinner formula, but the even for a thin formula application was perfectly smooth and fuss free. The polish is incredibly shiny, even before topcoat and does wear well. I don't know about twelve days (I'm notoriously hard on polish) but I did find that these shades did resist chipping longer than others I've used in the past.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Sweet Pea Dreams*

Sweet Pea Dreams is a pale, shell type beige. I wasn't sold that this shade would look that great on me, but the shimmer/pearl finish gives it a glow, making it quite pretty. It ends up being a more feminine take on nude shades. The formula of Sweet Pea is the thinnest out of the bunch, but surprisingly it did build easier than I thought. I ended up needed three coats for full opacity.

 Avon Nailwear Pro+ Painted Peony*

Painted Peony is a pink kissed peach shade. The shimmer/pearl finish leans a golden shade in this polish, giving a bit more warmth than the cooler tones that make up the rest of the collection. This shade was one with a thinner consistency and required three thin coats.

 Avon Nailwear Pro+ Inspired Iris*

Inspired Iris is a cool pinky-purple with silvery-blue shimmer. The base shade reminds me of OPI Lucky, Lucky Lavender, which happens to be an all time favourite of mine. This shade does have a thinner formula, requiring three thin coats for perfection.

 Avon Nailwear Pro+ Garden Green*

Garden Green is a medium-deep, grassy green with shimmer that shifts through blue, silver, and gold. I seriously love this shade and the formula is pretty much perfect. This is two thin coats, but one thick would likely work just as nicely.

Avon Nailwear Pro+ Blue Water Lilies*

Blue Water Lilies is a medium blue that almost leans periwinkle, with silvery shimmer. This shade has a fantastic formula- two easy coats.

 Avon Nailwear Pro+ Forget-Me-Not Blue*

Forget-Me-Not Blue is a medium-deep cobalt-ish blue with silvery-blue shimmer. I say 'ish' as it's not quite, but close. I think that this is my favourite shade out of the bunch, it's just so.... perfect! On top of being a stand out colour, it's a one coater too! Not too shabby at all.

Overall, there are some pretty fantastic shades in this collection. I'm hard pressed to pick my favourites, but Forget-Me-Not Blue, Garden Green, and Painted Peony are pretty fantastic. Are you excited about Spring polish collections? What shades do you tend to go for?
