Nivea Aqua Effect Refreshing Foaming Cleanser and Exfoliating Scrub

Nivea Aqua Effect Refreshing Foaming Cleanser and Exfoliating Scrub

I don't know about you, but I get tired of using the facial cleanser all the time. It's one of the skincare items that I am always changing. I'll use one for a few weeks and then swap it out with something different. There are just too many options to be tied down to the same one. It's also nice to have difference cleansers for different needs and even seasons. Hopefully someone reading this is nodding their head in agreement...

Anyway, I've been using a new cleanser and scrub from Nivea's Aqua Effect line and I thought it was about time I share my thoughts. Ready? Read on!

Ban Animal Testing in Canada with The Body Shop

I think it's safe to say that every beauty lover has had questions at one time or another about what exactly is in their products. Sure, the ingredients are usually listed on products, but what did it take for those ingredients to go from being raw materials to being safe for use in cosmetics. What forms of testing were used and did they include animals?

Revlon Selects: Revlon ColourSilk- 48 Burgundy

When it comes to hair, I tend to take the diy approach. Okay, I don't full on cut my own hair- well, I did once, but normally I leave that to the professionals. Little trims, bangs- since I never can decide if I want them or not, and colouring all happen in my bathroom.

I'm never super sure what colour I want so I tend to brand/shade hop. I think I've used pretty much every at home dye on the market. Given that, I was excited to give Revlon ColourSilk a try. Read on to see my results...

Avon Big Colour Eye Pencils- New Shades!

I don't think the cosmetic minds of Avon ever sleep. They've had a ton of new items and shades added to their various ranges lately, and this blogger is having a bit of trouble keeping up. Mind you, it's fun trouble, but still. I had a bit of swatch time today with the four new shades joining the Avon Big Colour Eye Pencil family.

NOTD: Curves of Blue

Last night I set out to paint my nails. I decided to use a polish I've had for a while, but have yet to use- China Glaze Four Leaf Clover. While rummaging around looking for it I found Fast Track- also China Glaze. Well, that seemed like a great pairing and an excellent chance to use the nail guide stickers I picked up. Don't you just love when things fall together like that?

Somewhere during the process my polish lineup got changed- I still haven't used Four Leaf Clover... but I did create something I'm really happy with.

Mary Kay Cream Eye Colour- Core Shades

After trying Mary Kay Cream Eye Colours in the new shades (here) I knew I'd have to get my hands on their core shades too. They're just that good! That said I was very excited to see these arrive at my door. I've had some time to play er.. test them all... Want a to take a peek? Read on!

Demeter Dark Chocolate and Vanilla Cookie Dough

'C is for cookie; that's good enough for me...' a song my parent's must have listened to about a thousand times out of my Oscar the Grouch boom box, before the were smart enough to invest in a Walkman. A family friend had made me a tape of Muppet and Sesame Street songs, and I adored it. I know I still have it stashed away somewhere...

Anyway, cookies are a universally loved form of carbohydrate. If you don't love a cookie every now and then, well... I just don't think we could be friends. There is just something so warm and comforting about a good cookie, especially the scent of a freshly baked batch. Demeter knows what I'm talking about. With their Dark Chocolate and Vanilla Cookie Dough scents you can make your own custom cookie blend.

Avon Colour Precise Lipstick

The allure of a new lipstick... I really don't think many of us- at least anyone who is reading a beauty blog *coughs*that would be you*coughs- can pass up a new tube of clourful goodness. So you can only imagine my excitement when I not only got a few new lipsticks, but not just your average old round lipstick... diamond lipstick!

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker XL Extreme-Plump Lip Shine

If the average woman ends up consuming seven pounds of lip gloss a decade - if you choose to believe the 'experts', I don't see how that would ever be possible... anyway, how much are the above average users eating? Kind of scary to think of, isn't it?  Okay, maybe we'll just stop thinking about that....

What prompted my pondering on such a subject was Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker XL Extreme-Plump Lip Shine and it's oh-so-tasty scent, but that's getting ahead of myself... Read on for all the plump details (see what I did there?)

Avon Mega Watt Nail Enamel and Speed Dry+ Top Coat

Yesterday I spent the bulk of my day swatching nail polish. Bottle after bottle, shade after shade. It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it...

One of the collections I spent some time with was the new Avon Mega Watt neons. Yes, neons! I've said it before, but I think it merits being said again: Avon has really stepped up their game. These are some really great shades with a really interesting formula. Read on for a peek...

Mary Kay Makeup Finishing Spray by Skindinavia

Helloooo, Blogfans!

I hope everyone had a great (long, if you're Canadian) weekend. I spent mine tearing apart my closet, and then putting it back of course. I headed into my bedroom on Friday to get a bunch of swatching/blog business done, as this blogger is majorly behind on a few things, but I was carting a new tank top and jeans with me. I was going to just plop them on the bed, but thought it would be best to hand them up before a little furry friend decided to take a nap on them. Dark wash denim and white cat fur don't mix all that well. Anyway, when I opened my closet I decided something needed to be done. It's been a straight up disaster since... well, awhile. It made me quiver just thinking about it, but three days later and I've tackled it. I got rid of a bunch of stuff/clothes and found quite a few things I'd completely forgotten about. Even a batch of B&BW candles! Awesomesauce!

Continuing on to what you really want- the beauty. Today's item up for discussion is the Mary Kay Makeup Finishing Spray by Skininavia. Read on!

Kiss Nail Dress Strips- Overnight Success and Glamorous Life

You likely know how much I love nail polish, but you know what else I love? Nail wraps! The only thing is, I never use them. Whenever I see particularly cute ones, I buy them and add them to my nail drawer. I figure I'll save them for something kind of special. I have at least eight boxes of the Sally Hansen wraps just waiting it out. Why not just use them?

These Kiss Nail Dress arrived in February and I kept adding them to my blog schedule, but I kept breaking nails- that's the other reason that stops me from using wraps more often, I always want to wait until my nails are all perfect, which seems to be a rarity. Last week all my nails were looking good, so I decided it was the perfect time to put these to the test! Read on to see how well they fared.

Etude House Sweet Recipe Baby Choux Base- Peach

I think this is the last item I hauled on my most recent Asian cosmetics/skincare binge. See the other posts here, here and here. I initially wasn't going to review this, but the more I used it, the more I liked it, and I decided it was worth a share. Read on!

bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0- The Happy Place

I love eyeshadow. I really do, but I've been really good and not buying all that much. Well, I had been really good. When I made my last Sephora order (here) I had a hankering for a new palette so I decided to go for it. The problem came when trying to decide which one would be mine.

It was a toughie, but I ended up set on a bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 and in the end The Happy Place won me over. It's neutral with a twist shades called to me. Want to see more? Read on!

Avon Forbidden Fruit Nailwear Pro+ Nail Enamel

I've got to give to the brains behind Avon. Especially their nail polish team, who clearly haven't had a day off in quite a while. I showed you a preview of the three collections I had to be swatched, and have since gotten a few more. They just don't stop. But, this polish feind doesn't mind one bit, especially not when the shades are as shimmery and fun as these Forbidden Fruit collection. Ready for a look?

Swatched: Revlon Girly and Layering Comparisons

I just didn't know what to blog today. I've got lots to show you, but I just didn't know where to start. Like when you're standing in front of an overloaded closet and proclaim (say it with me) 'I have nothing to wear!"

I sat at my desk waiting for something to come to me... a sign from the beauty blogger goddesses perhaps? No such luck, unfortunately, but I did notice a little note that I mad to myself quite some time ago, scribbled on my white board: Revlon Girly & ... pink base. Aha! And with that, a post was born.

Dupe alert! Avon Mega Impact Eyeliner and Urban Decay Comparison

You've likely heard me proclaim my love of Golden Fawn (review) aka my hands down, favourite eyeliner of all time- yeah, it's that good. As much as I love that shade, the whole Mega Impact Eyeliner lineup is fantastic, so you know I had get in on the new shades.

NYX Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palette - Let Them Eat Cake

When the promo images for NYX Love in Paris Eyeshadow Palettes started hitting the blogsphere a few months ago, I was instantly smitten with Let Them Eat Cake- a palette of soft, wearable pinks and neutrals? Yes please!

I was unsuccessful in finding reviews of this before I purchased, but NYX eyeshadows do have a reputation of being rather excellent, so I decided to just go for it. What could go wrong?

Yves Rocher Sublime Skin BB Cream

Although I have found an Asian BB cream that I love- this one, I still get the urge to try out North American ones from time to time. The last time that urge struck, I ended up with Yves Rocher Sublime Skin BB Cream. I've yet to try a Yves Rocher product I didn't love and have had especially good experiences with their foundations, so I figured their take on BB cream could be a worth while gamble.

Soap and Glory Butter Yourself Body Cream and Foam Call Shower and Bath Body Wash

Spring has finally sprung! In full force here- the leaves are finally turning green and the birds have been hopping about driving my indoor-only cat a bit crazy. She sits at the window a natters at them as if they'll fear her nonexistent ferocious-ness.

When seasons change, I tend to switch up my body care items. I opt for lighter, fresher scents, and lighter- yet still moisturizing formulas. That said, it was perfect timing that Soap & Glory released a new fruity scent for their Butter Yourself Body Cream and Foam Call Shower and Bath Body Wash.

Firmoo Optical Review

I got new glasses!! Okay, now that that's out of my system, let's continue...

I can't help but get a bit giddy when it comes to new glasses, that special time only comes once every couple of years and by the time I get new ones I'm more than sick of the old ones. After seeing the same tired frames on your face day in day out, the sense of love you had when you picked them out is long gone. Of course there are certain downfalls, but I kind of love my glasses. I'd love to have a drawer full of frames to choose from but, as anyone who has ever bought them knows, they're so dayyymmn expensive. Which leads to the reason for this post.

If you read many blogs, you may have seen a few Firmoo reviews by now. Firmoo is an online optical store with bargain basement prices- cute frames for $26? Have they gone insane?! When the opportunity came along to try them for myself I had to take it.

The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex Pastel Cushion Blusher

Today we've got another super cute Asian item that I hauled along with my Etude House Sweet Collection items in the form of The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex Pastel Cushion Blusher in Coral Cushion (and breathe!) Did I really need another peach hued blush? Not even. Did I fall for the little pot and bow adorned powder puff? You bet!

Revlon Swatch Party - Sunshine Sparkle, Posh and Impulsive

Last month I spotted Revlon nail polishes on sale, so naturally I had to have a little look. I really didn't think I'd find anything worth picking up, as I tend to be pretty on top of Revlon's shade lineup, but I was so wrong. I found a few shades I'd never seen so into the cart they went, because you can never really go wrong with Revlon.

Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick

Sometimes the cute factor of a product just calls to me. While I usually try to resist it, sometime you just have to take the call, you know? In the case of these uber cute Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipsticks, how could I resist- they're heart shaped! A heart motiff and claims of being a moisturizing lipstick? How could I go wrong!

Sephora Birthday Haul

Last week was my Birthday (yay!... kind of, I'm getting old!) so naturally, I had to treat myself to a little Sephora haul and claim my bday freebie. I was so undecided as to what I wanted that it seriously took me hours to decide what to order. I told myself I wouldn't spend more than $100 before tax and customs and what not, but true to form I went a bit over, but I did get a few items I think I'll really be happy with. Want to see? Makeup Box Review

You may know that I love a good beauty subscription box, so when I first heard about Wantable a couple of months ago, I was intrigued and totally prepared to subscribe. At that time they weren't shipping to Canada, but I'm pretty determined, so I contacted them just to see if they had plans on expanding delivery. At that time they weren't but -and this is were being a blogger is extra awesome- were willing to provide a box for review purposes. Exciting! There was an initial Canadian shipping problem, and then a lost box, but better later than never, my little purple Wantable makeup box arrived safely in my mail box. Want to take a peek at what I got?
