mark holiday 2013 - part one

It never ceases to amaze me that so many new products emerge around the holidays. There is just so much to hoard wish for! To try and keep with all of the mark. releases, I thought Id bundle them- one post with more essential items and the other with colour and gift giving ideas- to make things that much easier. Read on for part one!

'Put this lightweight pressed powder over foundation for the perfect final step! Provides an instant, natural looking finish and reduces shine throughout the day. Available in seven shades- very light, light, light-medium, medium, medium-dark, dark, and deep.'

mark. Great Finish Pressed Powder will see you through any shine inducing holiday moments with it's smooth texture and natural finish. Housed in a compact with a sponge applicator under the pan, this is an easy product to have on hand for quick touch ups. I love how smooth the powder is- so silky!- and that it applies over skin without emphasizing dry patches. I did find the shade selection to run a bit dark. Light looks more like a medium- it's too dark on me and I would normally wear light- and Medium reads more like dark. I suggest going a shade lighter than you think you need. Otherwise, this is a really great powder

'It's an imperfection hider! It's a dark circle cover! It's super conceal, our lightweight liquid concealer with buildable, medium-to-full coverage and long-wearing power. Blends seamlessly for a natural-looking finish! Available in seven shades: very light, light, light-medium, medium, medium-dark, dark and deep.'

A good concealer can really make all the difference and mark. Super Conceal Full Coverage Concealer delivers. It's quite similar to other popular concealers (think It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer) but with a lighter texture that isn't as firm. I found it covers flaws incredibly well and stays in place well when set- it did crease under my eyes without powder.

The shade I have is too dark for me to wear on its own, but I thought I'd share my little tip for making the wrong shade of concealer work. If it's too dark I apply it before my foundation. After I've applied my foundation, I apply a brightening under eye product- like this one, or this one- and blend everything well. Once set with a bit of powder, everything looks perfect. Now, it won't work if the shade is a lot darker than your skin tone, but it does work when there it's a shade or two off.

'Look pretty on the dot with this gotta-have-it palette of creamy, shine shades! Our bestselling colour compact gets lippy with nine must-have glosses ranging from everyday neutrals to statement making bolds with a mix of sheer and creamy colours.'

I'll admit that I'm not usually a fan of palette style lip products, but these lip colours are soft and not even the slightest bit goopy or sticky. You get nine shades in one compact... well, compact, in a variety of finishes- a few sheer, shimmering shades, a few creams, and a few medium opacity shimmers. The palette includes a wee-little lip brush that actually works quite well to apply these. This is perfect to toss into your purse or makeup bag to have for any on-the-go situation.

If you're like me, you always end up breaking a nail when things get busy and it is so annoying. But don't waste time with a boring, old, plain file, oh no. Add a bit of flair with a touch of bling! This file is super cute with silver glitter and stones on one side and file on the other. The file works well to banish imperfections. Unlike some emery boards this one isn't too gritty (it won't rip your nails to bits!) just remember to file in one direction.

'Our best-selling mini brush kit (Go With the Pro) gets glammed up for holiday giving and post-holiday taking everywhere. Includes five mini brushes: eyeshadow, eyeliner, concealer, lip brush and powder brush.'

So, I already called the nail file super cute, but this is too! I love the soft gold metallic case- just look at that little tassle! And better than that, it's home to five mini brushes to see you through almost all of your makeup application needs. These brushes incredibly soft and work with both cream and powder formulas. The compact size means you'll be able to cram a few more blushes into your makeup bag for that weekend with the relatives.

There you have it! Will you be picking up any of these items to see yourself through the holidays? What are your must have items?
