CND Special Edition Solar Oil

Cuticles are something you don't really notice until it's too late. You look down one day, and they're looking decent, but the next day they're in shambles. I don't quite understand how cuticles can take such a drastic downturn so quickly, but they do.

Sure, a good nail and hand care routine can avoid such situations, but let's have an honest moment and admit that we don't always follow such routines to a tee all the time; now do we? DO we? No. That's why it's a good idea to have a blockbuster product waiting in the wings to snap your cuticles back into fighting form in as little time as possible. For me, that product has been CND Special Edition Solar Oil.

'Called a ''manicure in a bottle,'' this blend of three natural oils and vitamin E serves double duty as both a nail strengthener and conditioner, as well as a cuticle softener.' - CND

When I first picked up CND Special Edition Solar Oil it was mainly because I read somewhere that it smelled like French macroons (aka macarons). Hello?! Do want. While it doesn't quite smell like that (more on the scent in a moment) it does work remarkably well on parched, damaged cuticles. Housed in your basic nail polish-style bottle, CND Solar Oil applies with a brush. Now, I've come to be spoiled by roll-on oils or gelled oils that brush on, so I don't love the bottle. Most of my cuticle care is done in bed and a bottle is just waaay too easy to spill, you know? Luckily I have had no catastrophes so far. Anyway, the oil seems like any other, but once it's on the skin it seems to absorb so much quicker than other products I've used and seems to instantly hydrate. I find I can apply this before bed to ragged, sad cuticles and wake up with near perfection. Okay, maybe not quite, but I do find that I get results much faster from this oil than others and as you may know, using cuticle oil also helps strengthen nails and aid in maintaining your polish. Can't beat that!

The Special Edition version of CND Solar Oil was released in 2012 as just that, a special edition of their original Solar Oil is also ( available here). The only difference between the two is that the Special Edition one has a divine scent- a sweet and woody scent with hints of vanilla and almond. I haven't used the original Solar Oil, but from what I can find, its an unscented product.

Overall, I am a major fan of this! The Special Edition version can still be found from some retailers, but unfortunately isn't as widely available as the original. While I do love the scent, I'd be just has happy with the original as I love the results and the scent is just a nice little extra. Have you used this? What's your favourite cuticle oil?
