Fridays seem to be my most hectic days of the week... Which must be why every post I intend to get up on Friday ends up going up on Saturday. Anyone else all over the place on Fridays? Anyhow, regardless of the day, who can resist a not only a new mascara but a new lipstick (or two) to go with it?! Perfect combo really. Read on for a look at Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara and Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick.
Bare Lashes
While I already have a drawer full of mascaras on the go, there is always a new one that needs to be tried out... The newest on to land on my desk is Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara which promises five times the volume, and a plumping complex and innovative crème-gel formula. Sounds promising, no?
The first thing that I noticed was how massive the brush was. It's a big one, but the curved shape makes it more manageable and allows you to get in and grab all of the little lashes. I found the formula a little too wet the first time I used it, but it did 'mature' nicely after a week or so. I don't think my photos do this quite enough justice, as this does leave my lashes looking pretty amazing. It gives a nice amount of length and plenty of volume without looking cakey leaving lashes clumped together. It could hold a curl a little better, but overall it's a great mascara as it wears all day and doesn't flake or smudge.
Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick- Fearless Fuchsia* and Hi-Def Plum 3g $8 USD / $10 CAD
A bold lip is a must every now and then, so I was excited to try Avon
Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick. You know I love a little Avon lipstick, so I
had high hopes for this new formula which has 50% more pigment than the
existing Ultra Colour range. The Bold range currently only has eight shades, but they offer a pretty good selection, so there is something for all tastes. Of the two shades I've used, I did notice that the formulas differ, more on that in a moment.
Fearless Fuchsia is a bright, blue based pink (aka Barbie Pink.) While the shade is wearable, it's definitely not for everyone, although you can dab it on for a less shocking pink look. The Bold range is said to have a satin finish, but I found this shade to be a little drier in feel that lead it to be a little patchy when applying. While it wears nicely without being drying, the formula can emphasize flaws, so it's best to prep lips well and use a balm under it.
Hi-Def Plum is a gorgeous raspberry toned pink. I love this shade! The formula has a softer, creamier feel than FF and as such applied without any issues. The shade has a hint of sheen on lips, but is otherwise a comfortable wearing stain finish. The shade is really wearable and is a great Fall option if you aren't ready to give up on your brights.
Overll, I some great options if your makeup bag needs a few new additions. Out of everything, I highly suggest picking up Hi-Def Plum as it's a really stunning shade. Tried any of these products? Want to? Thoughts?
