Mary Kay Runway Bold Collection | Fall 2016

mary kay runway bold collection fall 2016::: press sample :::

Fall is usually the season for bolder, jewel-toned shades and metallic accents. They just work. Mary Kay knows this and is offering up a collection of fall-esque shades, but with a bit of a twist. The Mary Kay Runway Bold Collection centers around metallics- think gold, silver, and rose gold- paired with deep navy with shades for eyes and nails.

There really isn't a star of this collection, as everything is equally great, so we'll start with eyes and work our way down. The Rock the Runway Eye Colour Palette offers up five intensely pigmented shadows in a large square compact. The shadows are arranged in long thin lines, which I initially though might be too slim, but I didn't have any issues picking up product with my brushes. There is no mirror, but you do get a clear lid which allows you to easily spot what you're after.

The shadows, as mentioned, are richly pigmented and super smooth. Some are so creamy feeling they're almost like cream shadows. Shade wise, you get a warm metallic gold, a bronzey-brown with golden shimmer, a shimmery metallic silver, medium cobalt blue satin, and a blackened-navy with blue shimmer.

Eyes are also treated to two molten liners with the Dramatic Gold Gel Liner Duo. The split pot combines a bronzey-brown and warm gold liner. Both liners have a shimmery-metallic finish and are amazing! Tons of pigment, easily applied, and look incredible. They fully set, so you can even get a little wild and use them as shadow bases. The cap clicks apart to be a brush which is very handy, and actually a great way to apply the liner.

I know I said there was no star in this collection, but I might have lied. The polishes (ahem, Nail Lacquer) are pretty much bottled perfection. With a metallic gold foil (Gold is Bold), metallic rose gold foil (Rosy Encore), and deep navy crelly (Blue Debut) your fall nail wardrobe is complete. Both of the metallic shade are almost one coaters, but I used two for full coverage and all the shimmery greatness I could get. Blue Debut is equally pigmented and this close to being a one and done shade, but two are needed for an even, deep finish.

The new Glowing Finish Illuminating Sticks aren't technically part of the Runway Bold Collection, so consider them a little bonus. The chubby little sticks are home to cream highlight shades that add a bit of shimmer and glow to skin. Available in Gold and Bronze in Canada and an additional Silver shade in the US, these cream sitcks are the quickest way to get some glow. The gold shade has pale, soft gold ultra-fine shimmer in a clear-ish base, while Bronze is a peachy-bronze shade without shimmer, but instead a radiant glow. I prefer the Bronze shade, as it doesn't have actual shimmer pieces, but both do give a really pretty glow to skin.

Overall, some excellent products from Mary Kay. All of them happen to be limited edition, so snap them up now before they disappear. I highly suggest the nail polishes and the gel liner, but you really can't go wrong with anything. What do you think? Anything you need in your makeup bag?
