Everything Eyes with Elizabeth Arden

I would say happy Fall, but it really isn't feeling very fall yet... It's is straight up hot here. I'm not impressed *insert pouty face*. Unlike Mother Nature and the non-changing seasons, Elizabeth Arden is delivering as promised with a few new products for the eyes.

The eye-conic (sorry, I had to) brand favourite Advanced Ceramide range has a new twist with the Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Eye Serum. The cute little capsules have just enough serum inside to apply to both eyes, and is released with a twist (although, I find you have to dig your nail in too or else they don't open.) The oil-based serum works to firm skin, improve skin texture and clarity, reduce the appearance of puffiness, discolouration, fine lines, crow's feet for a more youthful appearance. I found it to also be hydrating, so that's an added bonus too. The serum has a light-weight feel that is silky to apply, but does need a few moments to absorb into the skin. It has an instantly hydrating feel on my drier skin and in the weeks I've been using it (I'm just shy of a month) I've noticed my eye area to be smoother, more rested looking in the mornings and that little bit brighter overall.

As the name implies, the formula features an enhanced ceramide lipid complex that includes ceramides 1, 3 & 6 that work to support skin's natural protective barrier against moisture loss, and help to retexturize, exfoliate and smooth skin. The formula also features:
  • Fatty acids: a blend of essential fatty acids to support the integrity of the skin's lipid barrier.
  • Chlosterol: helps to maintain moisture levels and protect skin from dehydration upon application
  • Sea Fennel Extract: promotes natural skin cell renewal and increases skin luminosity and smoothness.
  • Botanical Complex Technology: a blend of alfalfa extract, lipids from olives, and hydrocarbons from coconut oil to reduce the visible signs of aging and increase hydration levels.
  • Vitamin E: a powerful anti-oxidant that fights free radicals and helps keep skin hydrated and conditioned.
  • Tsubaki Oil: rich in oleic acid and vitamins A, B, D & E, plus nourishing omegas 3, 6 & 9, Tsubaki oil has been shown to improve the look of fine lines, and wrinkles, while enhancing moisture for smoothness.
  • Vitamin A Palmitate: used to smooth lines and wrinkles while supporting skin's own natural collagen for firmness and added clarity and even tone.

The Elizabeth Arden Eyes Wide  Open Collection launched recently, seeing the introduction of products to "custom-eyes" your look. One of which, the Statement Brow Gel. Available in four shades the gel acts as a tinted gel that "grooms, conditions, fills and shapes" "with the coverage of a pencil and the natural look of a powder. The total package to the perfect brows."

Pretty bold claims, and while I love this for the added fullness, colour and depth it gives brows while setting them in place, I find I still like to use a pencil for definition first. While this does give tint, the rounded end of the spoolie is too large to apply precisely to tails of brows. I still need a pencil to get a sharper shape first. the upside is that this holds really well over a pencil and is smudge and budge-proof for the 12 hours Ms. Arden claims.

Before & After (slide it!)

The Eyes Wide Open Collection is also home to the new Lasting Impression Mascara. Available in black and brown (shown in 01 Lasting Black) the mascara is all about "exceptional length, separation, and definition" with a unique, tapered, almost Christmas tree shaped brush that features "five iconic spheres grab, coat and extend for remarkably long, fanned out lashes that will get you noticed wherever you go."

I was quite impressed with this mascara, as one coat really did a lot to oomph my lashes. I got a lot of length and volume without the need to play around with multiple coats. Actually, I did find one coat was ample, as the formula does start to add too much volume and risks getting clumpy when you add more. I wears well all day without flaking, smudging, or running if you should have an onset of allergies like I did.

The formula is also worth noting, as it includes ceramides (1, 3 & 6) plus vitamin C to reinforce lashes natural protective barrier. Avocado and olive oils make an appearance, and work to condition lashes while helping seal in moisture and build length for naturally better lashes.

Overall, three Elizabeth Arden products I've really liked using. I have been a big fan of their mascaras, but this formula might just be an all-time pick for me. I would like a little more hold/ curl, but that's always on my lash wish-list. What do you think? Tried any of these products or want to? Have any brand faves?
