Mary Kay Gel Semi-Shine Lipstick

mary kay gel semi-shine lipstick (4)::: press sample :::

It's a lipstick kind of day, which is great because Mary Kay is at it again with a new range of gorgeous hues. last year, we saw the introduction of their Gel Semi-Mattes (these ones) so it only makes sense that they've created a Gel Semi-Shine version for us to covet. With twelve cream and shimmer finish options, there is something for every lip lover.

Many of us still love out matte lipsticks, but know the allure of a shinier finish can call at any time. Mary Kay gets us. The new Gel Semi-Shine Lipsticks offer a light, easy wearing gel-based formula with the perfect amount of shine.

Housed in the same black and silver packaging as their matte sisters (complete with viewing window) and a sleek little logo on the front of the tube.

As mentioned, there are twelve shades in the range. While pigmentation ranges a bit from shade to shade, the gel formula has a bit of transparency (as seen by my scar peeking through most shades) that allows the shades to be worn more sheer or built up to a more full opacity with a few passes. I find the shimmer shades tend to be a bit more sheer compared to the cream finish.

Onto the shades:
  • Naturally Buff: soft tan-nude cream
  • Rosewood: rose-brown nude cream
  • Sunset Peach: warm peachy-orange cream
  • Love Me Pink: cool baby-pink cream
  • Raspberry Ice: mauve- berry cream
  • Luminous Lilac: lavender-pink shimmer

The shine is light, not glossy or intense and gives a nice softness on lips. The formula wears very easily without feeling drying, but doesn't add much in the way of hydration either.
  • Red Smolder: cherry red cream
  • Scarlet Red: deep blue-based red cream
  • Haute Pink: deep fuchsia shimmer
  • Apple Berry: berry-red shimmer
  • Spiced Ginger: coppery-brown shimmer with metallic shift
  • Berry Couture: deep berry-brown cream

Overall, a really excellent range with perfect shades- I'm hard pressed to choose favourites, because I kind of love them all. What do you think? See any shades you need?
